Urgent Zoom Meeting with HR? Could be a scam

Attackers sending Zoom meeting notifications and asking recipients to join a fake Zoom meeting regarding their supposed termination.

Bad enough that people have to work from home for the first time in their lives, they are becoming victims of cyberattacks. That being said, it is stressful for people to be productive while overseeing their children attending remote class lessons. And definitely challenging to keep the house sane whilst having a video conference with colleagues.


With all the hard work going on, certainly, no one would feel good about having to receive an email from their company's HR team asking to join a Zoom meeting immediately to discuss your Q1 performance along with a subject "Contract suspension/Termination Trial."

According to the researchers at Abnormal Security, computer users are being targeted with phishing emails. The common risk is that employees working from home due to the Coronavirus lockdown will immediately believe that they received a genuine invite from the company to meet with the HR.


Panicking employees would click on the fake Zoom webpage, unknowingly hand-in their corporate information over to the criminals,


REMEMBER - Don't click too quickly and think. Cybercriminals are exploiting every way to trick the unsuspected users into clicking on malicious links. Additionally, Zoom has no legitimate reason to ask the user to enter their email address and password.
